david was a rapist and murderer, Henry 8th, embraced Luther to free him of his lawful wife, and proceeded to destroy England financially and spiritual, morally bankrup murderous tyrant. Now Elizabeth the first, was bright, savvy, able to negotiate, tempered religious craziness, interested and funded exploration to the new world , made England a trade powerhouse, militarily strong, and cohesive as a nation.
Henry VIII set the hero cycle going. He failed to consolidate properly in the Summer. His son, Edward, died too young to reset the cycle to Spring and England moved into the Autumn.
Mary I was an Autumn Hero. She tried to return to the Spring by trying to unpick her father’s legacy. This failed and England went into the Winter. Where Elizabeth successfully pulled England back to Spring and restarted the cycle.
Hero in my theory means more like Leader. Maybe I’ll change it. 🤔 But I like it because one person’s hero is another’s villain.
Yes. They are heroes to some and villains to almost everyone else. 🤔
Commented on your winter article but Clive of India feels like the most obvious British example of the spring hero/ leader.
Very interesting theory. It makes sense - I think things do tend to run in cycles.

Fascinating idea for a series. Looking forward to it.
Great post and idea
Spring heroes don't seem like good guys. But reactionaries in fear of collapse seem to like them.
